Being a Flight Attendant During Covid-19

Apr 29, 2020

Just 45 days ago I was flying happy spring breakers to their favoured destination. Today, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, my job as a Flight Attendant for United Airlines looks a bit different. I am working on repatriation flights which are bringing families together again and taking doctors and nurses to hotspots. I’m moving live organs and stems cells, instead of Disney backpacks. In the past month, United Airlines, has operated more than 100 repatriation flights all around the globe. One of my most emotional journeys was from London to Newark, when a passenger thanked and hugged me with tears, appreciating all efforts and hard work to bring him close to his family.

3 years ago I graduated from PIHMS with a Graduate Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management. The training we received, prepared me to keep calm and maintain a safe working environment even in the most difficult situation. PIHMS has helped me so much to achieve who I am today but never did I think that the training would help me protect society and be an essential employee during the pandemic.
