International Diploma in Hotel Management 

The Diploma is a two and half year course, which includes two six month paid industry placements. A further six month study with enable you to gain your Bachelor Degree. Total study time for the Bachelor Degree is three years.

Students are totally immersed in an hotel environment. They will be living in twin share hotel rooms. All meals will be served in the PIHMS restaurant.

Learning is a combination of lecture style delivery in business subjects and real life hotel operations; whereby students gain experience in roles within the hotel school from food & beverage, front office, housekeeping & management 

Earn up to $30,000 during your study - Paid industry placements at PIHMS throughout your study

During the three year course students will undergo two six month paid industry placements, with potential earnings of $30,000 during your study. Placements are sourced by the PIHMS industry placement team, in leading hotels throughout New Zealand and Australia.

Qualifications gained are International Diploma in Hotel Management, NZQA level 6 (two and a half years), Diploma in Hotel Management (AQF level 6, Australian), Bachelor of Applied Hospitality & Tourism Management, NZQA level 7 (6 months extension on the diploma).

Employment Opportunities:

Guaranteed Paid Industry Placements through the PIHMS Industry placement programme lead to excellent pathways into fulltime employment for graduating students.

Entry Requirements:
All applicants are interviewed. They must be at least 17.5 years of age; Students are required to have completed year 12 and successfully attained NCEA level 2 with at least a total of 80 credits (or equivalent for overseas students).

  • 60 credits must be obtained at level 2 or above
  • 20 credits can be obtained from any level
  • The Level 1 literacy and numeracy requirements must also be met

Overseas ESOL minimum of IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 213 (comp adaptive) or 550 (written).

 Bachelor of Applied Hospitality & Tourism Management

Students in the Bachelor program will build on the learning attained from the diploma program in lecture style learning business studies. They will also develop and implement an event management project.

Employment Pathways:
PIHMS paid Industry Placement provides an excellent pathway into employment upon graduation. Placements are offered at leading Hotels throughout New Zealand.

Entry Requirements:
All applicants are interviewed. They must be at least 17.5 years of age; Students are required to have completed year 12 and successfully attained NCEA level 2 (or equivalent for overseas students); Overseas ESOL students min of 6.0 IELTS (no band score lower than 5.5) or TEOFL 213 (comp. adaptive) or 550 (written). To enter the final semester, applicants must normally have gained a high pass in the Diploma of Hotel Management section of the degree.
